Your bundle of joy may be in a hurry to do many things in one go. In this process he may exhibit difficulty maintaining focus. Introducing calming activities in his routine will help him focus better, sit for a longer time and reduce his restlessness.

1. One way for your child to get a chance to relax is to create a space in his room which is filled with stuffed toys, pillows, books or other comforting things. It should be a very inviting place for him.

2. Make him listen to soothing music which will generate a peaceful environment in the house. Minimize exposure to television, video games, computers and phones. All these produce fast moving images and loud sounds which disrupt communication and peace at home. As a family, make it a rule to talk softly to each other. Avoid interrupting when one is talking.

3. Another way to utilize your child's energy is to encourage some form of exercise like going for a walk, riding a bike etc. In this way, besides getting fresh air, his energy gets an outlet.

By introducing positive changes in your child's routine and keeping in mind his interests, your over active child can get his energy channelized.
