Can Your Child Already Have Sympathy At This Point?

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your baby now is officially a toddler. At this point, you will start noticing the emotional development that she is undergoing. She will be more receptive to you and will show an emotional bonding towards you which will be clearer than it was when she was a baby. She will also be able to sympathize with others around her. Sympathy can be described as feeling pity and sorrow for someone else’s misfortune. It is an emotional understanding that one person shows towards another person.

It is quite possible for your one year old to show sympathy towards some other person. Researchers have found out that when exposed to both victimized and aggressive objects, babies as young as 10 months have tried to clutch towards the victimized ones. The research showed that babies preferred siding with the victim rather than the perpetrator. This shows how soon babies learn sympathy. So chances are that even your little one has begun to learn more about sympathizing with others.
