    Ingredients to make Dal Pitha:

1.5 cup rice flour, ¾ cup masoor dal, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, salt as required, water to form the batter

    Steps to make Dal Pitha:

    1. Wash and soak the masoor dal for about 20 minutes. Drain the dal and keep aside.

    2. In a mixing bowl, add the rice flour and salt. Stir well and add water to form a batter.

    3. In a kadai, transfer the batter and cook till it turns into a soft dough.

    4. Grind the masoor dal along with turmeric powder and salt to a coarse paste.

    5. In a pan, add the dal paste and cook on medium flame till you get a crumbled texture. The stuffing is ready.

    6. Start making pithas. Take a small portion from the soft dough and shape into a ball. Roll as you do for a poori. Put a spoon of the dal stuffing. Seal the pitha and give it a shape (like a modak/gujiya).

    7. In an idli steamer, grease the idli moulds and place the pithas. Steam cook for about 10 minutes.

Healthy and delicious Dal Pithas are ready to relish. A perfect evening snack. Enjoy!
