Healthy Murmura Jaggery Ladoo

Murmura Jaggery Ladoo is a traditional sweet preparation made using puffed rice mixed with jaggery. You will just love the crunchiness of the rice and the sweetness of jaggery. It is not only tasty but also easy to prepare. It also boosts the iron quotient.

    Ingredients to make Healthy Murmura Jaggery Ladoo:

    3 cups puffed rice cleaned and sifted, ½ cup grated jaggery, ¼ cup water, ¼ tsp. cardamom (powdered), 1 tbsp. ghee

    Steps to make Healthy Murmura Jaggery Ladoo:

    1. Heat a heavy bottomed pan on medium heat. Add jaggery and water to the pan and bring them to boil, stirring until the jiggery melts completely.

    2. Once it done, use a strainer to filter the jaggery liquid. As there is sure to have some residues from sugarcane.

    3. Clean the dust particles in the pan and place it on the stove. Pour the strained jaggery back into the pan and heat it on medium heat and bring it to a boil.

    4. Once the jiggery is thickened (sufficiently to get a pearl-like consistency when dropped in a little water) add the puffed rice and the cardamom powder to the jaggery and mix well.

    5. Turn off the heat when done, and set aside for a few minutes to cool.

    6. Take a small portion of the mixture between ghee greased hands and shape it into sweet lime size ball.

    7. You have to be pretty quick in doing it because the mixture will take its shape and firm up when it cools down.

    8. Cool them down and store in an airtight container.

    You can offer these Murmura Jaggery Ladoo as an evening snack.
