A perfect evening snack for your kiddo which is crunchy, tasty, and easy to make. Moong dal is also a good source of protein, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, and a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, riboflavin, folate, copper, and manganese.

1½ cups soaked yellow moong dal, 2-3 green chiles, 1 inch chopped ginger, a pinch of asafoetida, salt to taste, 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves chopped, a pinch of baking soda, and oil for deep-frying
1. Clean, wash and soak moong dal in enough water for about 3-4 hours or overnight.
2. Drain the water and add chopped green chillies, ginger, asafoetida, salt, and grind into a smooth paste. Add a little water if required.
3. Transfer the batter into a mixing bowl, add coriander leaves, baking soda and mix well.
4. Heat oil in a pan and using your fingers drop small amounts of batter in hot oil and fry it till crisp and golden.
5. Drain the excess oil using paper napkins.
Serve hot with tomato ketchup/coriander chutney.
