Pappadam

You can prepare a tasty papad delicacy called Pappadam using papad and coconut. Flavoured with the goodness of curry leaves and onion, this dish tastes yum. Papad is a good source of dietary fibre and manganese while curry leaves and coconut are a good source of vitamins and minerals.

    Ingredients to make Pappadam:

    10-12 papad, 1 cup grated coconut, 3-4 green chiles, 1 dry red chili, 2 onions, ½ cup coconut oil, ½ tsp yellow mustard seeds, 5-7 curry leaves, salt to taste

    Steps to make Pappadam:

    1. Finely chop the onion and green chiles.

    2. In a blender, add the coconut, green chiles, 2-3 curry leaves, and half of the onions chopped. Blend well.

    3. Lightly roast the papad on medium flame and crush them.

    4. To the crushed papad, add the coconut mixture, and salt. Give a good mix.

    5. In a kadai, add oil. Once the oil is warm, put the mustard seeds. When it splutters, add the dry red chili, curry leaves, and remaining chopped onions.

    6. Saute for 2-3 minutes and add the papad coconut mixture.

    7. Cook on medium flame for about 5-7 minutes.

    Delicious hot Pappadam is ready to be served with rice.
