Shevgyachya Shenganche Pithla or Drumstick Pithla is a famous recipe from Maharashtra. It is a perfect combination of taste and nutrition. Drumsticks are rich sources of calcium and help bones grow stronger.

    Ingredients to make Shevgyachya Shenganche Pithla:

    2 drumsticks, chopped coriander leaves, oil, salt to taste, 1 tbsp jaggery, 1 piece kokum, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 onion chopped, 1 tsp mustard seeds, a pinch of hing, 3 tbsp besan, 1 tbsp grated coconut

    Steps to make Shevgyachya Shenganche Pithla:

    1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan and add mustard seeds and let them crackle. Add hing.

    2. Add chopped onion and saute it. Add chilli powder, turmeric and saute.

    3. Now add drumsticks and 2 cups of water and cook covered till drumsticks are slightly tendered.

    4. Add besan and mix properly to avoid any lumps. Add salt, koum and jaggery and cook covered for another 3-4 minutes or till the raw aroma of besan disappears.

    5. Add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.

    Serve hot with jowar ki roti.
