Tomato Bhath

You can prepare a rich, colourful, and healthy rice preparation called Tomato Bhath. Rice mixed with colourful veggies like tomato and beetroot provides the required carbohydrates and vitamin minerals.

    Ingredients to make Tomato Bhath:

    1 cup rice, 1 tomato, 1 beetroot, ½ potato, 3-4 sprigs of coriander leaves, ¼ onion, 1 tsp oil, salt as required, 2.5 cups water, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

    Steps to make Tomato Bhath:

    1. Wash rice well. In a pressure pan, add rice and 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Cool the rice and keep aside.

    2. In the pressure pan, add potato, beetroot and tomato. Add half cup water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.

    3. Puree the veggies.

    4. In a kadai, add oil. Add finely chopped onion, turmeric powder and saute for 2 minutes. Add the pureed veggies in the kadai and salt. Saute for 2-3 minutes and switch off the flame.

    5. Put the cooled rice in the kadai and give it a good mix till the pureed veggies get coated well with rice.

    6. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.

    Tomato Bhath is ready!
