Boat ka Halwa

Boat means top of index finger, which is best described to eat this halwa. This Boat Halwa is mostly made of almonds and cashews, which are very good for health. Cashews are rich in minerals like manganese, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium and zinc. Almonds are rich in Vitamin E. Calcium helps in making bones strong.

    Ingredients to make Boat ka Halwa:

    200 gm almonds, 100gm cashews, 50 gm ghee,100 gm ragi flour, 400gm sugar,1 cup water, saffron- a pinch, orange colour - a pinch.

    Steps to make Boat ka Halwa:

    1. Peel the skin of almonds by soaking in hot water and make paste of almonds and cashews.

    2. In a non-stick pan, add water and sugar and once the sugar dissolves and it starts boiling (it takes 5 minutes) add all the other ingredients and mix well.

    3. The mixture will start to boil and you need to keep stirring (for 10 minutes) till the desired consistency of kheer is attained. After that, remove from flame.

    4. If the halwa consistency gets too thick, add little hot water and cook for 2 minutes, you can use almond and cashew powder too instead of paste.

    Serve with bun! Enjoy!
