The Airports Authority of India runs this civil enclave airport on the Japanese side of the Indian Air Force's Lohegaon Air Force Station (AAI). The state government approved a change of the airport's name. The proposed name was Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport.

Pune International Airport Terminal Information

The old terminal, built on an area of 22,000 square metres, accommodated around 7 million passengers each year. In comparison, the new terminal, which is expanded and built on an area of 52,000 square metres, can handle about 9 million passengers per annum. 

Terminal 2 also has a separate VIP lounge, providing independent access to the terminal building. The AAI offices and Central Industrial Security Force were shifted to a new block, which thereby helped create more space in the new building. The airport's power substation located near the entrance gate was also moved to the new building, thereby creating more space for passengers and providing them with additional facilities and amenities.
