Advantages Of CNG Over Other Fuel Types

Price

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a cheaper alternative to the ever-expensive fuel types like petrol or diesel. Also, CNG fitted cars are a common sight in today’s time, but this was not the case always. This has been possible due to various technological advancements in the field of automobiles. People around the world are looking to replace conventional fuels with the cheaper alternatives like CNG that is not only light on the pocket but also scores over petrol and diesel when it comes to impacting the environment in a negative way. That takes us to the next advantage:

CNG Is Better For The Environment

It is common knowledge that gases emitted from vehicles are harmful to the environment and are one of the major causes of health issues like asthma, bronchitis, and a bunch of other respiratory issues. These gases are let out in the environment as they are byproducts of the chemical process that happens while the engine of your car is running. In recent studies, it has been observed that the emission of one such gas, carbon monoxide, is reduced by 80% in vehicles running on CNG. It also produces 45% fewer hydrocarbons than other fuel types.

CNG does produce harmful gases too, but as said earlier the emission levels are lower. Imagine the positive effect this will have on the environment if maximum vehicles in our country run on an alternate fuel type that emits such low levels of harmful byproducts. Also, CNG cars in India do not have particulate matter, sulfur, or traces of heavy metals, these may cause a reduction in the performance of your car. This brings us to how CNG is good for your car’s engine as well.

Good For Car’s Engine

CNG is considered to be one of the cleanest fuel types for a vehicle’s engine. This is because it leaves much less residue when compared to petrol or diesel. This causes less damage to pipes and tubes of the engine, in-turn increasing the engine’s lifespan. Less contamination leads to fewer of visits to the service center, which takes us to another advantage of CNG cars in India:

Lower Maintenance Costs

Keeping the car well serviced is one of the most important parts of buying the car. There are a ton of benefits to maintaining your car on regular basis. However, if you need to take your car to the garage every now and then, it will be a costly affair. If yours is a CNG fitted car, the lifespan of the engine will increase as there will be less contamination of the motor oil due to the fuel. This results in longer periods between car serving processes like tune-ups and oil changes.

CNG Is Safer

One of the most obvious differences between CNG and fuel types like petrol or diesel is that CNG is not in a liquid form. Being a gas, it disperses quickly in rare case of a leak and does not spill and remain in the proximity of the car creating the likelihood of a fire hazard. CNG being lighter than air will simply move further away from your vehicle.

The CNG cylinder is also stronger and sturdier than a petrol tank. Another notable thing is the ignition point of CNG is 540 °C, that is almost double the ignition point of petrol or diesel. The gas is also very less likely to light up in the air in case of a leak. This makes it safer than other fuel types.
