As per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, owning a vehicle mandates you to have a driving licence, if you wish to drive it in Gurgaon without any hassles.

Gurgaon offers three types of driving licences
Licence for 2-wheelers without gears and engines smaller than 50cc
Driving licence for a Commercial Vehicle (CV)
Driving licence for a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV)
The process of applying for a Gurgaon driving licence is pretty easy and convenient. Individuals can opt for the online or offline method based on their preference.
Navigate to https://haryanatransport.gov.in/ and select the option for ‘Licence’.
Now go ahead and download the application form, print it, and then move on to step three.
Upload the completed application.
Collect all the necessary documents and submit them.
Apply for a slot from the registry for the driving test.
You will receive your driving licence in 2-3 weeks after passing the test after the above procedures.
To apply for an offline driving licence in Gurgaon, follow this procedure:
1. Get a copy of the RTO's application form 2. Fill in the following information:
Full Name
Father’s Name
Residential Address
Educational Qualification
Date of Birth
Place of Birth
Blood Group
Identification Mark
3. Provide passport-size photographs as well as proof of your address and age
4. Submit the completed form to the RTO.
5. The first round of testing can be scheduled by obtaining an appointment.
6. Once you pass the test, you will receive their driving licence, provided that they have a valid learner's licence for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 80 days.
Here's how you can check the driving licence application status online:
Below is the process to check the driving licence application status through the State Transport Department website or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway website.
Visit the Haryana Transport Department's website.
Click on 'DL and LL registration'.
A new page will load, in which you can view the status of your application.
The fourth step is to enter your application number.
After clicking on the 'Submit' button, you will see your application's status.
You can apply for your driving licence using the second method, which involves the following process:
Visit parivahan.gov.in as the first step.
Click on the 'Driving licence-related services' link.
Select the state in which you live.
On the new page that loads, click on the 'Verify status' option
Your DOB and application number are required in Step 5
Fill in the captcha code correctly.
The status of your licence will be displayed.
The Driving Licence test in Gurgaon is done per the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
The Applicant must own his or her vehicle to perform the test.
He or she can also use the motor driving school's vehicle if he or she does not have one.
Driving licence tests for 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers require the candidate to ride within a boundary and make patterns of 8 while keeping the vehicle from stalling.
The invigilator asks the applicant to ride on public roads once the performance has been approved.
Driving a four-wheeler requires the applicant to drive without touching the columns placed on the boundaries, even once while on the test track.
An applicant must drive on a public road and be judged according to performance.
After failing a test for any vehicle category, an applicant can retest after 7 days and pay a nominal fee.

To become a licenced driver in Gurgaon, you must fulfil the following criteria:
To legally operate a two-wheeler with an engine less than 50 cc, you must be at least 16 years old.
To legally operate a two-wheeler with an engine larger than 50 cc or a four-wheeler, you must be at least 18 years old.
It is illegal to use a commercial vehicle if you are under the age of 20 The rules of the road must be known.
Before applying for a permanent licence, a learner's permit must be held for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 180 days.

Applying for a learner's licence in Gurgaon is fairly simple. You can apply for it both online and offline. You can refer to the steps for both methods below:
Anyone can download the forms necessary to complete the application on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website.
Once downloaded, the applicants must fill out the forms and submit them with their documents.
Once the payment has been made, applicants are accepted.
Applicants must first select a date and time slot to appear at the RTO to take the Learner's Licence test.
Once they have done so, they need to visit the nearest RTO on the day they have picked and take the exam.
If the RTO clears the test, they'll issue the driver's licence on the same day.
To apply for the offline process, individuals should visit the RTO nearest to their home address. Application forms and other important materials can be found at the RTO offices.
Once applicants submit their information and fill out the necessary forms, their documentation is examined for authenticity, and must then be verified by the Regional Transport Office.
You can pay the fee by cash or credit/debit card when you go to the RTO, and then make a time slot for visiting and taking the learner's licence test.
After passing the test at the RTO, the applicant will be issued with a learner's licence that day.
Regular driving licence must be renewed every five years in Gurgaon or until the holder turns 50.
A commercial driving licence must be renewed every three years.

In the event of losing or damaging one's driving licence, one should not panic and instead contact the Gurgaon RTO for a duplicate copy.
The following documents must be submitted to the RTO to get a duplicate driving licence:
LLD application
A copy of the FIR if the driver's licence is stolen
In the case of commercial driving licences, challan clearance reports are issued by the traffic police

A copy of the age proof and the address proof
A copy of the original licence
The licence number if the licence is stolen
Attestation by either a notary or a gazetted officer is required for Xerox copies of these documents
The following steps must be followed after paying the required fee to obtain a duplicate driving licence:
The first step is to fill out the LLD at the RTO.
A fee of Rs. 200 is required in step 2.
On successful verification, a duplicate driving licence is issued to the applicant.
One has no choice but to apply for a fresh driving licence, if one cannot remember his driving licence number.
In Gurgaon, international driving permits (IDP) must be applied at the RTO with the required documents. The applicant must have a permanent DL to get an IDP, although no test is required.

The third step involves submitting a fee of Rs. 200 for a duplicate licence.
