The city is also known for its busy roads, and one has to follow traffic rules to stay away from any mishaps. One such rule is to possess a valid Driving Licence (DL) while driving/riding a vehicle. You can follow these steps to submit the DL application online in Kolkata.
Step 1: Log into the Parivahan website.
Step 2: Navigate to the “DL Services” menu, select the state of residence (West Bengal) and select “Apply for Learner’s Licence” option.
Step 3: Provide the required information, upload the documents and pay the applicable fees.
Step 4: Schedule an appointment for the LL test.
Step 5: Undergo the test and collect the Learner’s Licence once you clear the test.
Step 6: Visit the Parivahan portal and select “Apply for DL” from the DL Services section.
Step 7: Provide the required details and upload the relevant documents.
Step 8: Schedule an appointment for the driving test after a month from the date you receive the LL.
Step 9: Pay the applicable fees and download the online application.
Appear for the driving test, if you clear the test, the RTO will issue your Driving Licence. You will receive the DL via post.

Here’s the process to obtain a DL via the offline method in Kolkata.
Step 1: Visit your respective RTO and collect the LL application form. You can also download it through the Parivahan website.
Step 2: Fill out the form with the required information and compile the relevant documents.
Step 3: Visit the RTO and submit the form and the required documents.
Step 4: Pay the LL fees, collect the fee payment receipt and schedule a slot for the test.
Step 5: Undertake the test and receive the Learner’s Licence after clearing the test.
Step 6: Schedule an appointment for the driving test after 30 days from the date you receive the LL.
Step 7: Appear and clear the driving test.
Post driving test clearance, the RTO will dispatch the Driving Licence to your residential address via post.

Step 1: Visit RTO’s online portal (Parivahan) to avail of DL services.
Step 2: Select “DL Services” from the “Online Services” section.
Step 3: On the next page, choose your state of residence (West Bengal).

You must meet the following criteria to be eligible to get a Driving Licence in Kolkata.
You should be at least 18 years of age.
You should have a valid Learner’s Licence that is not older than 6 months from the date of issuance.
You must undertake a driving test after 30 days from the date of LL issuance.

Here are the steps to renew your DL in Kolkata.
Step 1: Apply for the Driving Licence renewal online via the Parivahan portal and print or download the online application
Step 2: Submit the online application to the RTO and update the details as applicable.
Step 3: The RTO will verify your documents and issue the renewed Driving Licence via post.
The Driving Licence is a physical document, and the chances of it getting lost or damaged are high. That’s why the RTO provides a duplicate copy of the DL if needed. If you are in a situation where the original DL is lost or damaged, this section will help you with the process of getting a duplicate DL in Kolkata.
You must provide the following documents to obtain a duplicate copy of your Driving Licence in Kolkata.
