Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is a densely populated city. It is also called the “City of Dreams” and attracts a lot of people from different parts of the country. And more people lead to more vehicles. Note that if you want to drive/ride a vehicle in this city legally, you must possess a valid Driver’s Licence (DL). Here are the types of Driving Licences you can apply for in Mumbai.

The Driving Licence application process in Mumbai can be completed either online or offline. The following sections explain both methods.
Here are the steps to apply for a DL online in Mumbai.
Step 1: Log on to the Parivahan portal to access online Driving Licence services.
Step 2: Click on “DL Services” by selecting the “Online Services” option.
Step 3: Select the state name “Maharashtra” from the drop-down list and select “Apply for Learner’s Licence” on the next page.
Step 4: Follow the instructions, apply for LL online, and schedule an appointment for a test.
Step 5: Take the test on the designated date at the RTO and collect the LL on test clearance.
Step 6: Visit the Parivahan website and choose “Apply for DL” from the Driving Licence services menu.
Step 7: Select “Applicant holds DL” and follow the instructions to apply for a Driving Licence.
Step 8: Click on the “Appointments” option on the DL Services menu and book an appointment for the driving test after 30 days of LL issuance.
Step 9: Pay the Driving Licence fees and download/print the acknowledgement receipt for future reference.
Appear for the driving test on the designated date. An RTO official will monitor your driving skills. Upon test clearance, the RTO will record your biometric data. You will receive the Driving Licence at your residential address via post.
You can refer to the steps mentioned below to apply for DL offline in Mumbai.
Step 1: Visit the RTO and collect the Learner’s Licence application form. You can also download the form via the Parivahan website.
Step 2: Fill out the form with the correct information and compile the required documents.
Step 3: Submit the duly filled form and documents to the RTO and pay the applicable fees. Collect the acknowledgement receipt and select a slot for the LL test.
Step 4: Take the LL test and collect the Learner’s Licence upon test clearance.
Step 5: You can pick a slot for the driving test after 30 days.
Step 6: Pay the Driving Licence and driving test fees and collect the fee payment receipt.
Step 7: Take the driving test at the RTO on the designated date.
Upon test clearance, the RTO will record your biometric data and issue the DL. Your Driving Licence will be dispatched to your residential address via post.

You have to meet the following criteria to be eligible for a Driving Licence in Mumbai.\
The applicant must attain 18 years of age.
The applicant must possess a valid Learner’s Licence.
The applicant should undertake a driving test after 30 days of LL issuance.
The applicant should clear the driving test.
The applicant’s LL should not be older than 6 months from the date of issuance.
