As per the rules and regulations of The Motor Vehicles Act, a person should hold a valid Driving Licence (DL) to legally drive or ride a motor vehicle in India. A DL is valid for only a few years, and renewing it before it expires is important.

Step 1: Visit the Parivahan official website: https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/en
Step 2: Choose “Driving Licence Services” from the Online Services section.
Step 3: Select the state (Uttar Pradesh), click on the DL renewal option and hit “Continue” on the next page.
Step 4: Populate details such as DL number, your date of birth, and captcha code and click on the “Get Details” button.
Step 5: Verify details, select the state, RTO, and click on “Proceed”.
Step 6: Select DL Renewal from the service options and fill in the online application.
Step 7: Upload the soft copies of the required documents and click the “Submit” button.
Step 8: You will get an application number. Also, download/print the acknowledgement receipt for future reference.
Note: If you choose a different RTO than the original one, you must apply for an address change with the required documents and fees.
Post the document verification; you will receive the renewed Driving Licence via post.
