Revolutionising Health Insurance in India

The General Insurance Council (GIC) has introduced 'Cashless Everywhere', which is changing the face of health insurance in India. This new approach aims to give policyholders more flexibility and freedom while making their health insurance claims.
Previously, health insurance policyholders were required to choose a network hospital for cashless treatment. If they chose a hospital outside this network, they had to pay the whole hospital bill upfront and later file for reimbursement. However, with the scheme 'Cashless Everywhere’, these barriers are removed so that policyholders may obtain cashless treatment from any hospital, whether within the insurer's network or not.
Here are the two main advantages of Cashless Everywhere:
Through the initiative of Cashless Everywhere, policyholders can now easily access cashless treatment services at numerous other hospitals. This gives them wider options and more comfort when deciding on healthcare alternatives.
This simplifies matters for policyholders by eliminating up-front payments and subsequent reimbursement claims following non-networked medical interventions. It enhances the whole experience and makes it much easier for users on the other end.
In case of hospitalisation plans or emergencies at non-network hospitals, please do this:
Ask the hospital to send a cashless request in the specified format. A pre-authorisation form will be available on your insurer's website.
The hospital should send the completed form to [email protected] for further assistance.
From there, the insurance company will get in touch with the hospital and start its onboarding process, which, among other things, will enable it to accept your cashless facility requirement.
You can get help by calling 1800 266 2256 or by sending an email to [email protected].
Here are the important timeline that you need to follow to avail Cashless Everywhere:
Pre-authorisation requests must be submitted 48 hours prior to the admission date.
The pre-authorisation request must be submitted within the first two days of admission so that the onboarding formalities can be completed.
The following details should be provided by hospitals for the smooth functioning of the 'Cashless Everywhere' initiative:
A fully completed pre-authorisation request form signed by the treating doctor and bearing his/her stamp from their clinic/hospital
Diagnostic test reports, KYC documents and customer E-Card
A Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) executed with the hospital for availing cashless facilities.
A letter of consent from the non-network hospital to extend cashless facilities.
The 'Cashless Everywhere' initiative by the General Insurance Council is a significant step towards enhancing the health insurance experience in India. It expands access and simplifies procedures, giving policyholders more options and greater convenience for their medical needs. Whether you are planning hospitalisation or facing an emergency, this program ensures that cashless treatment remains available to you without the burden of paying upfront or having to go through reimbursement processes.
Please find the list of excluded hospitals at this link. Unfortunately, we cannot accept claims for treatments undergone at these hospitals. This implies, both cashless and reimbursement claims cannot be accepted.
The 'Cashless Everywhere' initiative launched by the GIC allows health insurance policyholders to get cashless treatment at any hospital irrespective of network affiliations. This move seeks to make claims for health insurance more flexible and convenient.
Traditionally, individuals holding policies had no choice but to select a network hospital if they were considering going in for cashless treatment. If they went outside this network for treatment, then they had to pay the bill upfront with hopes of it being paid back later on as a reimbursement claim.

Although this particular initiative targets any hospital seeking to offer cashless services, there is a need for the insurance firm to bring the hospital into its network. The terms and conditions must first be agreed upon by the hospitals themselves before they are inducted into the network.
The 'Cashless Everywhere' campaign covers treatments according to your health insurance policy's terms and conditions. You should confirm with your insurance company in detail what is covered.
The required documents should be submitted and also acceptance of such terms and conditions by the hospital is mandatory; then it could be admitted as a network hospital by giving cashless facilities to clients who hold policies from them.
If hospitals refuse these terms and conditions, "Cashless Everywhere" cannot absorb them as network providers. In other words, under such circumstances, subscribers may choose an alternative medical facility or go through a classic reimbursement procedure.
If your cashless request is denied, you can contact the insurance provider's helpline at 1800 266 2256 or email [email protected] for further assistance and clarification.
To make sure that everything is smooth enough, the hospital should ensure that it has submitted a pre-authorisation request in time and in the required format. Keep all necessary documents ready and communicate rapidly with your insurance provider for any help needed.
