On January 21, 2018, the Manipur government introduced Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang, or CMHT. The goal of this health insurance project is to offer cashless medical services to households that have been identified by the Socio-Economic Caste Census, or SECC.

The programme gives the recipients a health card so they may use the medical benefits. Therefore, the Manipur government hopes to digitise the state's healthcare industry through this project.

Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang Benefits

So, given below are some of the benefits of Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang:

Financial Protection

Beneficiaries of the scheme can get a maximum cover of ₹2 lakhs in the enlisted state government and private hospitals. Citizens can opt for their medical treatments free of cost, which acts as financial protection against rising treatment costs. In case of critical ailments, beneficiaries are also eligible to get daily allowances.

Cashless Facility

The recipients of CMHT are given health cards that allow them to get free medical care. For common illnesses, people can receive coverage for up to ₹50,000 in medical expenses; for serious illnesses, that amount can reach up to ₹2 lakhs.

Daily Allowance

Beneficiaries are also eligible to get a travel allowance of ₹300 per day for availing medical treatments within Manipur and ₹1000 for outside Manipur as a part of the full coverage. The scheme also provides an attendant for treatments outside the state, along with a provision for air and train fares.

Eligibility of the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang

CMHT aims to accelerate the healthcare services in Manipur. So, you need to fulfil a few eligibility parameters set by the Manipur Government to be able to register for it. The criteria include the following:

  • Individuals applying for the CMHT scheme must be citizens of Manipur who are below the poverty line and are identified under the SECC.

  • Applicants who are widows residing in the state.

  • Disabled applicants residing in the state.

  • AAY or Antyodaya Anna Yojana card holders.

Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang Enrollment

Individuals opting for CMHT scheme need to follow its enrollment process to avail the benefits of the scheme, as given below:

  • A minimum of two days before the enrollment procedures start, an Accredited Social Health Activist or ASHA worker would notify the eligible families about the same.

  • Individuals applying for CMHT are required to be present in the enrollment centre in person with the required documents.

  • After the verification process, each family will be given a CMHT health card with a unique CMHT identification number.

  • Each family needs to pay an enrollment fee of ₹50. However, AAY card holders, widows and disabled applicants are not required to pay the enrollment fee.

2. What documents should you bring to the enrollment centre? 

Some of Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang documents required are your identity proof such as an Aadhar card, PAN card or voter ID. You must also bring government-issued documents to show your economic status, disability status, AAY cards and SECC-based eligibility.

3. What documents should I bring for a newborn baby in the family?

In case of a newborn member of a family whose Aadhaar card or any other identity proofs have not been published, you must bring the birth certificate.

4. Is there a time limit for the enrollment process?

There are no time limits in the case of most of the enlisted hospitals like RIMS, JNIMS etc. However, there can probably be certain limits in a few hospitals, where the process continues for only six months. You can contact the operating centres of the Accredited Social Health Activist or ASHA to know the enrollment time limits in your area.

5. Can citizens of other states apply for the CMHT scheme?

No, Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang scheme has been exclusively launched for the citizens of Manipur. Hence, the permanent citizens of the state are eligible to apply for the scheme and avail the medical benefits.
