A PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card is one of the most important documents for a citizen to have. Losing your PAN card could be a troubling experience for you to have. Given the fact, for taxpayers in India, it happens to be an essential document. Losing it can hinder your life in a lot of ways and can cause your financial transactions to be both delayed and restricted.
If you've lost yours and are wondering how to get a duplicate PAN card, this guide will walk you through the online and offline methods to apply for a duplicate PAN card. In case you had your PAN card stolen, misplaced, lost, or even damaged, the Tax Department can issue an exact duplicate to you. The Tax Department has also simplified the process so that you don't have to go through any more trouble in getting such an important document back.
You can use either of the two methods available. Most of the requests and applications are sent by the online method, as you can and do it from anywhere, making it more cost-effective and time-saving. The offline method will require you to send it to the NSDL facilitation centre and get your form processed there.
Here is a simple rundown of the entire process you will need to follow.
Step 1: Select The Reprint Option
First, you will need to visit the NSDL website. You can access it by clicking here. Now you will need to select the application type, which in your case would be the ‘Reprint of PAN card’.
Step 2: Fill The Information
In this step, you will be required to fill in all information that is marked as mandatory on the page.
Step 3: A Token Number Will Be Generated
You filled in an email ID on the previous page. The generated token number will be sent to that provided email ID. Remember to keep a note of this token number, for future reference.
Step 4: Personal Details And Mode Selection
In this step, you will first be filling in all the necessary personal details on the ‘Personal Details’ page. After this, you will move on to selecting the mode of filing this application. You would be selecting - the ‘Submit digitally through e-KYC & e-sign (Paperless)’ option.
Important note:
Having an AADHAR is mandatory for this option. All the details that are given in your AADHAR are the only permitted details to be used in the application for a duplicate PAN card.
You won't need to submit any other document, signature, or upload a photo of yourself at this point. When you submit the final form with this option, e-sign the digital signature (DSC) will be required.
Through e-sign, submit all your scanned images. The scanned images will include your photo, signature, and other documents.

Step 5: Selection of Physical PAN Card, Or e-PAN Card
In this step, you will get to pick if you need an e-PAN card or a physical PAN card. A physical PAN card will be delivered to the provided address on the other hand for an e-PAN card you will need to provide a valid email ID where it would be sent.
Step 6: Contact and Document Details
Now in this step, you will need to fill all the necessary contact details under the ‘Contact & other details’ section. After this move on to filling in all the document details mentioned in the ‘Document details’ section. After you are done, proceed with submitting the application.
Step 7: Payment
In this step, make the payment. The payment page will pop up automatically. Select the mode of payment and complete the payment. After this, you get an acknowledgement form.
Step 8: Tracking The Status
If you need to track the status of the duplicate PAN, you can click here. You will just need to enter the 15-digit acknowledgment number generated.
Step 9: Receiving
The last step is actually receiving the form, sit tight, your process is done and the Income Tax will dispatch your duplicate PAN card within two weeks of receiving the application.

Step 1: Download The Application
The first step is to download the information. Just click here and you will have the form.
Step 2: Use Only Block Letters
Note: Only use BLOCK letters and black ink to fill this form.
Step 3: Enter PAN Number
In this step, for reference mention your PAN number.
Step 4: Attach Photos And Sign
For all the individual applicants, you will need to attach two passport-size photographs with this application. You will need to cross-sign these carefully, your sign should not cover your face.
Step 5: Fill In Details
Now, you need to fill in all the required information along with signing all the relevant boxes. Make sure to double-check all the information you fill in as incorrect information can lead to delay or cancellation of the application.
Step 6: Sending The Application
Before sending the application with payment, you will need to attach these documents:
Proof of address
Proof of PAN
Proof of identity
After attaching all of the documents you can send them to the NSDL facilitation centre. After the payment is completed you will receive a printed copy of the acknowledgment form which will have a 15-digit number. After this, the facilitation centre will forward your application to the Income-Tax Pan services for the application to be processed.

Step 8: Receive Your Duplicate PAN Card
The last step is just getting your duplicate PAN card. The card is dispatched within two weeks of receiving your application.
