In a bid to make healthcare affordable, the Government of India launched the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) on September 23, 2018. More than 50 crore people across India can avail the scheme benefits. It is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare program.
In Bihar, crores of people are currently deprived of the benefits of PMJAY. That’s why the Bihar government is launching its version of the scheme under the name of Bihar Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana (CMJAY). In this blog, you can learn more about this scheme.

As per the Bihar government, many people were excluded from the PMJAY in Bihar. The government has launched the Bihar Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana Bihar or CMJAY, to do justice to them and give them health insurance coverage. It is similar to the PMJAY.
The PMJAY currently covers over 1 crore families in Bihar. Now the government wants to extend the benefits of PMJAY to 89 lakh families in Bihar.
The main attraction of CMJAY is that it offers a maximum health insurance of Rs.5 lakh per family per year. It covers secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
Hospitals empanelled under PMJAY will also provide treatment under the CMJAY. Over 900 hospitals are empanelled under PMJAY, including 280 private ones.
To implement the Ayushman Bharat Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the government issues ID cards akin to the golden cards issued for the PMJAY.
To identify eligible family under Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojan, the government has used National Food Security Act (NFSA) enrollments.
After evaluation, Bihar government found 89 lakh families which were covered by NFSA but not by PMJAY. Now they can access health insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakh under Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan.
Here’s what you need to do to apply for Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Gather all necessary documents such as your Aadhaar card and ration card
Find your nearest Suvidha Kendra or PMJAY empanelled hospital
Take all relevant documents to the centre or hospital.
Fill up the application form and complete the formalities to get your CMJAY card.
