The Indian government - specifically the Income Tax Department - issues a unique 10-digit Alphanumeric identification number known as a Permanent Account Number, or PAN card as it is commonly known. It is a very important document to have and for tax-related transactions, serves as your unique identification. It is important to note that the Tax Department has made the PAN card mandatory for a variety of financial transactions.

The preferred way, like with everything else in this digital day and age, is to get the PAN Card Address Change done online. It is the easiest way to do it, saving you from a lot of hassle. But you have to keep in mind, this is not a one-click process! Given the importance of the document, there are more than a few steps that you need to follow. Step 1: Go To The Website
The first step for you would be to go to the official website which is - the NSDL eGov portal. Go to the ‘services’ tab, and click on it. It will open the dropdown menu, and select the "PAN" option from this menu.
Step 2: Apply For PAN Card Address Change
Now you need to scroll down on the page and look for the heading that reads "Change/Correction". In the options given, you will spot the ‘Apply’ option, click on this.
Step 3: Fill In Details
Next, you will see the PAN application which will require you to fill in the information.
Here is how you can fill in this information:
In the Application type section, you will need to pick - Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data or Reprint of PAN Card.
If you are not an individual, select the relevant category from the drop-down menu.
Then comes the option of filling in the other details, which include your personal details such as Title, Last Name/ Surname, First Name, Middle Name, DOB/Incorporation/Formation, Email ID, Mobile Number, Citizenship, and PAN number.
The last step would be to fill in the "Captcha Code" correctly and then click on submit.
Step 4: Register A Request
Once you have registered your request, check your Email ID. You will receive an email that contains your Token Number. Just in case your session is timed out, you can use this number to access your draft version of the form. After this, you can click on "Continue with PAN Application Form".
Step 5: Select Application Options
On the next screen you will come across three options which are as follows:
Submit digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign (Paperless)
Submit scanned images through e-Sign
Forward application documents physically
If you are opting to use Aadhar OTP select the first option.
Step 6: Apply For New PAN Card
This is where you need to fill in your Aadhaar details. Scroll down and enter the last four digits as printed on your Aadhaar card.
You will be asked if you need a new physical copy of your PAN, if you do, select the yes option. For this nominal charges apply.
Keep scrolling down and see all the relevant boxes and tick them, Remember you are ticking the boxes that need correction or updating. After you are done filling up, you can click on "Next".
Step 7: Enter Contact Details
You will move to a page called "Contact and other details". This is the page where you have to enter the new address that you need entered, to be updated on your PAN. Once you are done entering, you can move to the next page.
Step 8: Attach Required Documents
On this page, you will be asked to attach the proof of the document along with a copy of your PAN, this will be based on what you want to be updated.
Now you will come across the declaration section, where you will need to enter your name, select ‘Himself/Herself’ to declare the form is submitted in your own capacity, and lastly enter your place of residence.
Scrolling down you will come across the section that requires you to upload a copy of your ‘signature’ and ‘photograph’ and keep a note of the specifications and sizes mentioned or else it won't accept. Once you are done with uploading these documents, you can click on ‘Submit’
Step 9: Preview And Submit Application
At this stage, you will see the preview of the form you just filled. Make sure you double-check all the details you filled. After this, the next step would be to fill in the first eight digits of your Aadhaar Number. Now you can submit your form.
Step 10: Payment
Now that your PAN correction form is submitted, you all see the payment page on your screen. There are various methods and gateways that you can use to make the payment. Once your payment is completed, you will receive your payment receipt.
Step 11: KYC Process
Now the KYC process needs to be completed to move ahead with your application. Select the check box, read and accept the terms and conditions, and finally click on the ‘Authenticate’ option.
On your Aadhar Registered mobile number a generated OTP will be sent. Enter the received OTP and you can submit your PAN application form.
Step 12: Sign And Accept
On the next screen you will see the eSign option, click and continue with it. Now read and accept the terms and conditions and continue with ticking the box.
Step 13: OTP Generation And Download
Now enter your Aadhar number and click on the ‘Send OTP’ option. The OTP you received on your registered Aadhaar entered needs to be entered here. You will be able to download your acknowledgment from now. The file is going to be password-protected and the password would be your date of birth and the format - DD/MM/YYYY.

Step 4: Send In The Payment Slip
The last step requires you to send this slip to the Income Tax Service Unit of NSDL. Failure of this might result in the rejection of your application.
