Activity To Hold On

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Hi mommy! Do you know that a strong grip is an indication of sound gross motor skills? It means your baby’s brain is developing appropriately and is able to coordinate muscles to produce action. To help develop his strength of grip, here is a simple activity that will yield positive results with time, patience,  and practice:

    Steps:

    1. Help your little one sit and hold a toy before him. Any toy can be used, irrespective of its structure and shape as long as it is easily grab-able

    2. Avoid toys with sharp corners and rough edges, your little one’s safety is extremely crucial.

    3. Now touch the toy to his palm and help him to hold on to it with his tiny fingers.

    4. Now remove your hand and observe the amount of time your little one can hold on to the toy. Initially, it would hardly last for a few seconds.

    5. Repeat the same with the other hand.

    6. As time passes by, watch as your toddler’s grip improves and he holds on to it for a longer period of time.

Although simple, this is extremely important for his overall motor development, grab the nearest toy and watch as he surprises you with his enthusiasm.
