At about 1 to 4 months your child’s hand eye coordination begins to develop. She will try to pick things but may not grasp them. Between 9 to 12 months, you will see her picking up things and holding them. She may either give it to you or drop it just to watch you pick it up. Her pincer grasp is getting better and she will try to hold small things like a spoon, a small toy ,etc. Her manual dexterity is improving as she gains more control of her little fingers. As she tries to pick up, toss , drop things, she is also growing independent and confident by mastering hand eye coordination. Above all, she is making playtime more fun.
What you can do
You can help her grasp things by putting age appropriate toys or objects slightly out of her reach. Encourage her to pick them and give it to you. For instance, you can say, “Please pick the block and give to Mummy.” As she does it, you can clap for her and say “Good job!” While reading books to your child, let her use her hands to turn pages for you. Encourage her to eat food like cereals on her own. This way she will master the pincer grasp while getting food in her mouth.
The incredible journey of growth for your baby is marked by the transition from innate reflexes, such as sucking and grasping, to learned behaviours. As your baby grows, so does your responsibility, which also extends to planning for their long-term financial security.
For example, a ‘best term insurance plan for 1 crore’ easily provides robust coverage at affordable rates. This ensures your family remains guarded against uncertainties that life may bring. Using a term insurance calculator, you can easily identify a cost-effective term insurance plan with significant coverage for your baby. Securing the future of your child with life insurance ensures both financial security and peace of mind.
