In the early months, your baby is like a visitor from a foreign country. She can’t speak your language or understand fully what you are saying to her. But she is a fast learner. Your baby now begins to turn in to your voice and speech patterns to work out what you are saying.

 

 

At this age, your baby will pick up emotions, such as love, concern, anxiety and anger. She will be able to respond to them by the time she is few months old. She will use hand gestures, and other signs using her body that have meanings. She may raise his arms to signal that he wants to be picked up. Now she will start responding whenever you call out her name or even mention her name to some other family member, she will turn and look at you.

 

Your baby is turning into your tone of voice. When you sound friendly, she will react joyfully, and if you speak to her sharply she will probably cry. She is also beginning to tell the difference between strangers and familiar faces. She may cry when you put her in the arms of someone she doesn’t recognize. Your baby will add some gurgling sounds to her smile, her first attempts at having a conversation with you. Be sure to respond to her efforts and then give her a chance to respond to you. Her response towards her name and others is a very positive sign that she starts recognizing and responding to her name.
