Get Creative- Make Your Own Fox Puppet & Direct Your Show!

At this stage, your kid talks a lot, makes up imaginary stories. Sometimes your kid is deeply attached to a character and makes up stories accordingly. So why not give your little one a platform with a puppet character and create shows?

Requisites: Toilet roll-1, Fox face and tail prints-1 (take print on photo paper), bottle caps-2, brown shoe lace-1 pair, a stick or rod or wooden ruler-20 cm, string, glue, hole puncher, brown paint, small paint brush, old news paper or plastic sheets

Steps:

1. Cover your working area or table with old newspaper or plastic sheet, take toilet roll and paint it in brown colour, keep aside and let it dry.

2. Cut out the face and tail from the picture. You can also draw the face and tail on drawing paper and colour it.

3. Now take shoe lace, cut it in four equal size (15 cm each), and keep it aside.

4. Take bottle caps punched at the centre. You can use a heated metal screwdriver for the hole. Keep in mind, the hole should be of proper size so that shoe lace can pass through. It will be the fox’s feet.

5. Take bottle caps and two more pieces of shoe lace. Pass the shoe lace through each hole and tie a tight knot.

6. Take a toilet roll and punch 4 holes - two for arms and two for legs with the help of hole puncher.

7. Now take bottle caps with lace, fix in the lower part of body, tie a knot on the inside of toilet roll, to keep the legs fixed.

8. Take another two shoe lace pieces, fix them through the arm holes in the upper body. Tie a knot on the inside of the toilet roll to stop the arms slipping back. Tie a knot in the other end of each ‘arm’ to create paws.

9. Now stick fox face and tail with help of glue.

10. Take wooden sticks, tie three pieces of strings to it. Don’t make string length short otherwise you can’t move your puppet properly.

11. Pick string ends and start tying one by one with fox’s body. Fix the middle strings at the face, tie both side of strings on legs. Now, move your puppet, you can change your string position or can tie more stings and move your puppet according to your story.

You can make three to four characters the same way and create story show for your little one. Give your child a chance to build any story according to his imagination and incorporate all characters in his story. You just sit and enjoy the show.

This type of exercise builds up your little one's imagination power, and gives him the confidence to speak front of an audience.
