Get Your Child's Balance Right with Adjacent Plank Walk

As your child has entered school he would get familiar with a variety of physical activities. You as a mother need to make sure that your kid stay fit and active to perform all such tasks. This activity is easy and at the same time can be performed at home to improve your kid’s gross motor skills, and balance. Teach him/her how to cross an adjacent plank without any support.

Steps:

1. This task would surely check your child’s physical ability. You need to select an area which is open like living room or garden would be best.

2. Take two wooden planks which are comparatively thin. Place them adjacent to each other.

3. Now offer a simple demo so that the child can observe and learn. You need to stand on these two planks with each leg on one of these planks.

4. Now start walking forward without holding onto anything. Show your child how to place one leg forward and then the other. Ask your kid to try it.

Be there to support him if he loses balance. It would take few days for the child to perfect this task. Do not be harsh on him but cheer him up when he tries. This acts will hone your child's gross motor skills to a large extent.
