Help Your Child Understand 'Water Cycle'!

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

The water cycle contains evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. When water evaporates from water bodies due to heat, it changes to steam from a liquid state to a gaseous state, it is called evaporation. When the gas comes in contact with cool air it converts into liquid state. This process is called condensation. This occurs when the water vapors cool down to form clouds. The collected water from clouds and once they cannot move any further due to weight precipitation takes place, we call it rain and hence water comes back to the earth, and the water cycle continues.

This science experiment is so easy and costs nothing. It will help your kiddo to understand the concepts better. This activity also helps your him to develop his motor, learning and cognitive skills.

Requisites: Crock pot, tap water, a lid.

    Steps:

    1. Take a crock pot and fill 2/3 of it with water.

    2. Then set it on high and leave it for a few minutes.

    3. You will notice that as the water becomes hot it starts evaporating in the form of steam.

    4. Then put a lid on the pot and cover it properly.

    5. After a few minutes take the lid off.

    6. You will notice the small water droplets gathered on the underside of the lid.

    7. Then hold the lid over the pot and you will watch that the water will drop back down to the pot.

As in above activity when water becomes hot, it changes to steam from a liquid state to gas, when you cover the pot with the lid then these water vapors cool down as it comes in contact with the lid and changes back from the gaseous state to a liquid state, condensation takes place. The collected water underside of the lid simply drips back to the pot, exactly how the clouds function.
