Contents
Requisites: A unopened can of cola, 2 transparent plastic cups, 1 more plastic cup filled with water and coffee grounds, 1 tissue paper, 1 rubber band
Steps:
1. To begin, tell your kid that all living beings require oxygen to live. Fish have gills to help them breathe and that water has oxygen within it.
2. Pour the cola into a cup and ask your kid if she can see the bubbles. Explain that it is oxygen. Similarly, all water bodies contain oxygen in them.
3. Cover the other cup with tissue paper using a rubber band. Tell your child that this is like the fish’s gills.
4. Pour water and coffee grounds mix into the cup covered with tissue paper. Show your child how coffee ground was filtered by the paper. The oxygen, just like these coffee grounds, it gets filtered by gills and is used by fish to breathe.
This activity will helps your child observe how different animals adapt to their habitat with their body structures.
