Let's Prepare Sensory Soup

With summers approaching, here is an outdoor sensory activity for your kid. Set up your backyard play kitchen and start making your sensory soup. This activity is a great pretend and sensory play activity. It will enhance your kiddo's senses and motor skills.
Requisites: Herbs from the kitchen- mint, curry leaves, coriander, thyme, rosemary, Tulsi, Dill, Methi (fenugreek) leaves, neem etc. You could pick an assortment of any aromatic herbs from your kitchen, a pail of water, bowls, ladles, spoons, safety scissors, apron (optional), other optional ingredients to spruce up your soup.
Steps:
1. Set out a table in the garden, in an area where you don’t mind getting messy.
2. Set up a pail of water and bowls.
3. Allow your kid to cut the herbs with safety scissors under your inspection. Ask him to pluck leaves with his hands as well.
4. Allow your kid to explore these herbs with his fingers. Let him experience different fragrances.
5. Ask him to scoop out water from the pail into the bowls using ladles.
6. Then let him add the cut herbs of his choice and mix them with spoons to make his play soup.
7. Let him use his imagination and add other ingredients if he wants. You could simply use grains and pulses from your kitchen.
Exploring herbs and picking them, using scissors would all hone his fine motor skills. He also gets to experience different smells and explore his olfactory senses.
