Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Time to engage your child in an activity which will flare up your child’s interest in music! This activity will help you and your child create your own wind chimes using things available at home! This art project can be made as colourful as possible so your child can also enjoy making it and play with it. This is how you can do it.

Requisites: Wire string, yarn string, few small plastic cups, few cardboard cups (yoghurt cups), a few small bells, sticky tape, acrylic paint - different colours, paintbrushes, a nail to punch holes

    Steps:

    1. Wash two to three plastic cups and cardboard cups neatly and let them dry in sunlight. Ask your child to paint each cup with a different

    2. Ask your child to paint each cup with a different colour to make the wind chimes look bright and colourful. Let the cups dry and do a second coat of paint if needed.

    3. Place the cups with their hollow side facing down and punch small holes at their base using a nail. This is quite dangerous for a child. So, assist your child in doing so.

    4. After the holes are punched, pass a yarn string through the hole in each of the cups. Now, string the bell from inside the cup and tie a knot to secure it inside the cup. You can add a little more strength by using sticky tape over the knot.

    5. Do the same for the rest of the cups to create a bunch of colourful chimes.

    6. After you have a set of chimes, collect all the yarn strings together and secure them by making use of sticky tape, around a wire string. The length of the wire string determines how far down your wind chime hangs.

    7. At the top end of the wire string, make a small loop which can be used to hand the wind chimes down the ceiling.

Your child will be so thrilled with his own set of wind chime hanging around in the house! This activity encourages art in the form of painting and helps with the overall creativity of your child!
