Make Your Own Customized Photo Cube

You can display five pictures at a time! This activity is going to take quite some time. So, you do not have to worry about keeping your child occupied for a good amount of time! Requisites: Five pictures of family or friends, a carton-a little larger than the pictures chosen, lots of old newspapers, art glue, acrylic paint- 6 different colours, paintbrushes, a pair of safety scissors, sticky tape, buttons and stickers

Steps:

1. Take a small carton and secure it with sticky tape on all sides. This step does not need to be very precise. But get the sticky tape on all directions.

2. In a bowl, mix two parts of art glue with one part water. Remove lumps if any using a paintbrush. Cut strips of old newspaper.

3. Using the water and glue mixture, stick the newspaper strips all around the carton, leaving one side to be the base. Make sure you stick the newspaper neatly so there are no wrinkles formed.

4. Allow the carton to dry, this takes a few hours. After it completely dries out, follow up with another layer of newspaper strips using the water and glue mixture. Allow it to dry.

5. The next day, paint each side of the carton with a different colour. After the paint dries, do another coat of paint so the colour appears nice and opaque.

6. Your photo cube is now ready to be decorated with pictures. Leaving the base, paste a picture on each side of the cube.

7. Decorate the surrounding area with lots of stickers, buttons, etc. Your unique photo cube is ready to be displayed!

This activity helps with exploring your child’s creative side and also improves his eye-hand coordination. He will also learn to paint like a pro!
