Steps:

1.Pick a park that’s not too far from your home.

2. Help your child make a simple pathway to reach the destination. Help him to write the names of the roads leading to the destination.

3. On a separate paper, help your child write step by step directions to get to the park. For example, you may say ‘take right on 1st avenue road then go straight’

4.You can do this activity a few days before the guests arrive and see if you can get to the park together. And as you go, help your child estimate distances.

5. He may make use of colors to distinguish between the routes and make arrows along the map to show the way.

By performing this activity, your child will know more about his surroundings. He will be able to get his directions correct and be more confident.
