Paper Plate Snowman

Your 2-3 year old is curious to learn new things. While doing simple crafts you can teach him different topics. You can talk about the winter season to your child while doing this simple and creative craft of making a paper plate snowman.

Requisites: 2 paper plates, scissors, stapler, black and orange paper, googly eyes, orange pipe cleaner, coloured markers and glue.

Steps:

1. Use one paper plate, cut the rim. The small circle forms the head of the snowman. You can talk to your child about round shapes and discuss what other things are circular in shape. Example: Coins, bottle caps etc.

2. Staple the small circle with the big paper plate. Your child will need assistance.

3. With the black and orange paper, draw and cut a hat and a pair of mittens for your snowman. Its ideal to have a picture of a snowman which will help your child relate to what you are doing.

4. Get him to glue the hat and mittens. You can talk about winter clothes.

5. Stick on googly eyes, pipe cleaner nose. He can draw the snowman's mouth and buttons using coloured markers.

6. Your snowman is ready. You can tape it on your child's bedroom window as a celebration of winter.

Appreciate your child's efforts rather than looking for perfection. This way he will look forward to more such creative activities. Also, he will learn about round shapes and winter season in a better way.
