For early counting and sorting skills this activity is best for your child. It can be played by child alone or both parent and child and also with a group of kids.

Requisites: Wide range of jar lids and bottle top, Different color papers, Glue stick, Craft Knife.

Steps:

1. Firstly take jar lids and bottle tops of various sizes and thickness and group them by size.

2. Cover the front of each group of lids with same color paper with glue stick.

3. With the knife, cut slots in the base of a shoe box (or anything similar to it). The number of slots required, depends on you. You can start with five and go to bigger numbers. Make them to fit the size and width of each group of lids.

4. Cut pieces of left over color paper and stick them around each hole to indicate which lid goes where.

5. Write corresponding number of lids next to each color slot.

6. Now you can ask your kids to drop the lids into the corresponding holes and also count as they put it in.

This activity will help your child to recognize and count numbers, match color and size. This will also help to develop their fine motor skills and concentration.
