In this activity your kiddo will have to use tongs and tweezers to pick up objects of various shapes and sizes. He can play it alone or in a group. It helps develop his fine motor skills. A race or competition will add a dash of excitement to your child and will motivate him to master his fine muscle movements.

Requisites: Tweezers, kitchen tongs, variety of small and very small objects, empty egg cartons

Steps:

1. Select various objects that require your child to use tongs or tweezers to pick them up. Examples are: cereal, cut-up raw vegetables, cut-up raw fruits, cooked rice, dried fruits, corks, sugar cubes, cotton balls, buttons, grains to just name a few.

2. Let your child grasp, squeeze and move the objects from one egg carton to the other.

Your child can have a race with you or his friends on who can be the fastest in dropping all the items from one egg carton to the other. Whoever can drop all the items in the egg carton fastest without dropping any of the objects on the ground will be the winner.
