This is a wonderful activity for your child, about how to make beautiful stained glass quilt effect on the window. Since this activity is bit difficult for a child to do alone, it would be better that both parent and child do it together.

Requisites: Colored film (can buy large sheets of different colors from art supply store), Transparent contact paper or sticky back plastic, Scissors, Tape, Permanent Markers

    Steps:

    1. Have a look at the images of a quilt with your child, either in web or books. (This is optional as you can also make your own design).

    2. Cut the colored films into geometric shapes like squares, rectangles, triangles, circles. Any shape is fine.

    3. Cut the contact paper (sticky back plastic) down to the size of your window.

    4. Tape the contact paper to your work surface with loops of tape, sticky side out. Pull down one corner of the paper backing. (give the kids to pull back rest of the paper backing which they will enjoy immensely).

    5. Press the colored film pieces to the contact paper in a quilt pattern of your choice or imagination.

    6. Leave about 1/4 th -1/2 inch or about 1cm uncovered around the circumference of your quilt “square” to adhere to your window.

    7. Add “fabric” patterns to your colored film shapes with markers. (You can also have your kid scribble on the contact paper and then add the colored film strips).

    8. Press the stained glass quilt squares onto your window panes, sticky side to the glass.

    9. You can sit with your kids and talk about the different patterns and color patterns used.

This activity will help your child bring out his imagination, creative side. It will also help in color recognition, gross motor coordination. Make it a fun and easy project and enjoy it as apart of daily life (it is ok if it the end product is not beautiful).
