Tape Resist Painting

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your kiddo is all set to embrace some artistic adventures at this point. Tape resist painting is becoming very popular these days. This is an art activity and is entirely process based. Yet the product turns out lovely and unique every time.

Requisites: Thick Cardstock paper or Stretched Canvas, Painter’s tape, Child-safe scissors, Paint (ask your kiddo of his choice), Paintbrush, Newspapers to protect the work space (optional)

    Steps:

    1) First of all, spread the newspapers all over the work place. Help your sweetie pie in cutting the tape and creating a design.

    2) Allow your child to choose the design whatever he wants slanting lines, criss cross lines or straight lines.

    3) You can cut the tape for your kiddo and encourage him to paste the tape on the thick card stock paper or Stretched Canvas. He can also make his initials or first name if he wants.

    4) Once the tape design is finished, press the tape down with fingers so the edges adhere nice and tight to the cardstock. And then allow him to paint whatever colours he wishes. Encourage him to paint every section with different colours as more the colours ,more will be attractive.

    5) Once your child done with painting, let the painting dry thoroughly. Then slowly pulled up the painter's tape to reveal the tape-resist design he created.

You can also use the crayons or markers instead of paint. It will help them to learn the colours and shapes. But be careful and gentle while pulling off the tape from cardstock as the card may rip at places. Stretched Canvas works better, in this case. You can also hang it on the wall as a painting or a decoration piece later on to show off your kiddo's art.
