Time To Unleash The Picasso In Your Child

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

This is a unique art idea that you and your child will truly enjoy. This art is all about creating different textures and patterns. Your child will absolutely love the idea of just throwing a bunch of colours onto a paper using a paint brush. Enjoy this activity with your child and hang it in your child’s room!

Requisites: Shaving cream (the one in a pump packaging), paintbrush with large bristles, colouring of any kind (Food colouring preferred as they are non-toxic), a sheet of black cardboard or a dark coloured handmade paper, wax paper, adhesive glue

    Steps:

    1. Take a big sheet of wax paper and stick it onto the cardboard sheet or the handmade sheet using glue.

    2. In a bowl, spray a good amount of shaving cream and add a few drops of food colouring into the bowl. Mix the colour into the shaving cream, but not all the way. This creates strokes of different shades of the same colour while painting. Do this for a few colours in separate bowls.

    3. Give the wide bristled paint brush to your child and ask her to pick up a glob of colour. Ask her to paint the wax paper using neat brush strokes. It is okay for the paint to be lumpy as this will create different textures and patterns. It is not required that the finish is smooth.

    4. Let her creative juices flow by asking her to choose different colours to paint the wax paper with.

    5. After she is done with her artsy take on the painting, feel free to give it a finishing touch if required. You can also add a frame by making use of a different coloured cardboard.

Voila! You have a beautiful piece of abstract art! Let your child feel proud about it and hang it in her room. This activity enhances your child’s fine motor skills and also paves way for her to have a good grip on the paint brush. This also increases her eye-hand coordination.
