Inspiring your kid to read can be tough because it is so hard for him to see his progress. Help keep track of your young reader's progress with a train car reading chart.

Requisites: Paper, glue, scissors and crayons.

Steps:

1. Cut out two train engines. Write your child’s name on one engine and your name on the other.

2. Now, make a series of train cars. Explain to your child that for each book he reads, he gets to add a car to his designated train. Of course, given that you’ll probably be reading longer books, you most likely won’t get to add as many cars as he does.

3. Hang your engines in a public place with plenty of room to add cars as you read. Place the train cars and a pen, marker or crayon nearby. Encourage him to immediately sit down and read to see if he can add a car today. It’s important to model reading for your child, so you should also read.

4. As he finishes a book, help him write the titles on the train cars and add them to his train.

5. You can also have a family reading challenge with one locomotive and different coloured cars for each family member.

By using one train car per book, his progress will be more tangible and he’ll be more likely to stay motivated.

Planning for Your Child’s Financial Security

The growth and success of your child are not only associated with education and skills; the small decisions you make today as a parent firmly lay the groundwork for your child's secure tomorrow. When it comes to financial security, life insurance is an effective tool. You can choose from various types, such as whole life insurance, endowment plans, ULIPs, term insurance, and more.

You can also opt for a 1 crore term insurance policy, which offers robust coverage at low premiums that fits within your budget. You can also use a term insurance plan calculator to tailor your policy based on your requirements and your child’s goals. Remember, selecting the appropriate plan based on needs is critical so your child has adequate funds to fulfil all their dreams.
