Your child is now getting to know a lot of words and what the words mean, as well. It is crucial to introduce simple words so that your child develops a good vocabulary. Vocabulary is an essential element to succeed in various walks of life. This exercise must be kick started as early as that of 1 year if your child starts talking. The best way to improve vocabulary is through continuous urge to look out for new words and use of different words in your conversation. This activity is a simple yet powerful tool to explain and teach your child a plethora of words and open gateways to put together words in an awestruck manner.

    The activity is a great way to create awareness amongst your little one regarding phonemes. The poems and proses sound so eloquent with the rhyming words. Thus harmony is necessary to understand sound and its modulation and manipulation.

    Requisites: A stop watch or a watch having seconds hand

    Steps:

    1. You have one minute in hand and make as many rhyming words as possible in that time.

    2. Take turns but the response has to be instantaneous and not planned.

    3. The one having maximum numbers of words in their kitty wins the round.

    4. To make it fun filled and diverse, go for a hinglish version where just to harmonize the process you may use both English and Hindi words having same phonetics.

    5. More the number of people, more the enjoyment. Appoint a timekeeper who throws the first word and keeps a track of time and integrity of the rules.

    6. Initially start with simple words to induce enthusiasm in your munchkin like cat, mat, bat, hat, rat, sat to name a few.

    7. Once your kiddo is good to go with words, take to next level by introducing the same in sentences.

    The activity is a great way to enrich vocabulary and diction of your child. It also helps in better memorizing of words and to be attentive towards details.
