At this stage, your child has now learned about the relationship between sounds and letters. Your sweetie pie is 7 years old , and now it is the time when your child might start building his confidence and growing his vocabulary to support his spelling attempts.

What you need to know

At this point, you will notice that your kiddo might be spelling words, he reads and uses frequently. He might also spell the unknown words by just knowing the endings, for example, words that end in 'ing'. Your kiddo might also spelling correctly a list of personal words including names of their suburb, family members, friends and pet’s names. It is a great way to understand that your little one is heading towards the spelling milestone. It is also a positive sign that your kiddo is developing fine writing and reading skills.

However, your child needs a mentor all the times. He might get frustrated when he is unable to spell a word. Encourage your kiddo to look for patterns in words. It is absolutely fine to provide a word to your kiddo if he gets irritated, otherwise let him try on his own. But for now relax and enjoy your little one spelling words and happy parenthood.
