These foods causes hike in insulin and also inflammation that lowers down the fertility and excess can damage blood vessels as well. Men should also lower down the intake of trans fat as it lowers down the sperm production and affects fertility.

2. Alcohol

Alcohol is a biggest contributor to infertility and it should be avoided at any cost if you are trying to get pregnant. Alcohol depletes the vitamin B from the body that is necessary to boost the chances of fertility and fetus growth as well. So if you have to avoid it for the better health of you and your bay then there is no harm in it.

3. Unfiltered Water

There are lot of chemicals in the water that comes directly to your home. You need to drink filtered water that takes care of all these toxins and chemicals and gives you pure water. Unfiltered water takes away lot of essential salts from your body so it is necessary for you to drink filtered water during pregnancy.

4. High Sugar

Avoid consuming high sugar or carbs during pregnancy as this might lead to insulin hike in women and affects fertilization. High insulin impacts the ovaries that lessens down the chances of fertilization. This also affects the ovulation cycle that mars the fertility big time.

5. Soda

Soda or aerated drinks contains lot of toxins and chemicals that might increase the chances of infertility in women. These toxins leads to hormonal imbalance and infertility. They also take away all the nutrients from our body and our body do not get any nutrition that leads to fertility.

6. Raw Foods

Raw vegetables like sprouts, radish contain bacteria that might cause miscarriage or stop the growth of foetus. Same is the case with juices and canned vegetables that are full of bacteria and are not pasteurized. These foods should be avoided when you are trying to get pregnant.

7. Fish rich in mercury

Fish is indeed healthy as it is rich in omega-3 fatty acid but when you are trying to conceive then you must avoid eating it. Fish has high amount of mercury that is harmful for the body and lowers down your chances of getting pregnant. Restrict your fish diet to salmon, cod or shrimp in less quantity and avoid other type of fishes till your pregnancy is over.

8. Soy Products

Soy is rich in protein but if you are trying to get pregnant then you should avoid consuming soy products. Soy has certain compounds that affects fertility in men and women. These compounds are known to obstruct and destroy the sperm that swims towards the egg for fertilization. This reduces the chances of pregnancy in women.
