There are many factors that influence fertility. Age, lifestyle choices, medical conditions, menstrual health, birth control methods, sex and relationships, etc. are factors that affect fertility. One more factor, which influences fertility is climate of a place.

Global warming (climate change) is defined as the rise in average temperature of the Earth’s climate system in the long run. It disrupts the environment, economy and health of living things.
Hot weather affects sexual behaviour. After exposure to sunlight, our body makes more vitamin D. This increases the levels of testosterone in males and can result in better orgasms and better sex.
However, increased sex drive is inversely proportional to reproductive health during summer. As a result, there is a decline in fertility.
Hot weather harms the reproductive health, both sperm motility and menstruation. Reproductive health is vulnerable during this time and the outcomes of fertility are worse.
It takes three months for a sperm to fully mature. Sperm production decreases 30% during summer months. Besides, sperm count, sperm motility: the ability to move spontaneously also decreases during this time. This in turn makes it hard for conception to happen.
It is not heat alone which will make your menstrual cycles worse. It is how the heat impacts your lifestyle and stress levels causing hormonal fluctuation and changes in one’s menstrual health. You are also prone to getting yeast infections, which can cause irregular periods.
In winter, the chances of getting pregnant are high because ovulation takes place at a lowered body temperature. In men, sperm production and motility is better than during summer time. This helps in easier conception.
Definitely, temperature differences have a role to play in fertility. But it is not the only influencing factor. Hormonal variations, exposure to certain amount of daylight hours, lifestyle choices, are strong influencers affecting fertility.
