You will find him to be a lot louder and he will be going out of control at times knocking down things, banging doors, pots, and pans. He will be highly energized and can become fussy too. As a parent, you should’ve patience while interacting with your baby in a positive manner, enjoying the baby’s learning process, praising his efforts, and helping him develop the balancing act.

Few pointers:

Feeding:

At 10 months, his diet would have increased with proper meal times. This is the best time to try new foods, explore new textures and introduce foods with wholesome and organic ingredients to your baby for additional nutrients and energy.

Always give him small portions of food. Allow him to feed himself at the dinner table. Give food in a colorful bowl and spoons even if he creates a mess while eating. Always be careful to ensure he doesn’t pick up anything unsafe. Always check for any allergies before you introduce new foods. Avoid processed and readymade foods for your baby. Be imaginative and creative and cook for your baby.

Sleeping:

There will be a pattern change in his sleep cycle too. He will not like staying up too much and might create a fuss if you forced him too.

Teething:

Look after your baby’s teeth. Do not give him fruit juice, sweet drinks orcold items.Start cleaning the teeth as soon as they appear. Start giving him milk and water in sipper cup only.

Communication:

Your baby will have picked upnew words. Encourage his talks by responding with enthusiasm. Talk a lot with your baby about what you are doing while changing his diaper, dressing him, or giving him food. Sing songs, and play games enjoy nursery rhymes, read books during the day.

Always remember, he will understand everything you say but might not know how to respond. Give him time, have patience, make eye contact and listen slowly he will open up and respond. Use non-verbal communication as well, a lot of gestures, feelings, and actions while you talk to your baby.

Playing and Interaction:

Create safe zones at home since your baby will beupandbe moving around the house. Your baby will be interested to join in with their siblings, other adults at home to talk and play. Babies pick up faster from their elder siblings as they are very skillful at drawing attention to themselves. This will help your baby to learn to share and to care. Your baby will enjoy laughing out loud. He will love to mimic everyone around him, even the ones on the TV.

Play games that encourage motor skills, hand-eye coordination like stacking rings, blocks, cups, ball , etc. He will love to play with plastic phones, kitchenware, tools, dolls, and animals.

Growth:

At this age, your baby can sit comfortably and may walk while holding on to furniture. He can stand without support confidently. You will able to understand your baby’s personality by now whether he is a quiet or outgoing baby or he is calm or adventurous type.

Your baby can also spot items easily at this age and quickly get to them before you realize. So, always make sure your house is clean and no small items are within their reach. It might choke your baby. His brain is well developed now with all his 5 senses active: sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.

So, explore ways like turning on different tunes and see how your baby responds, hideaway toys and ask him to get them, show him the difference between hot and cold, etc. He will even protest if you take away his toy as he starts becoming more possessive. You can start using some discipline strategies and teach your baby right from wrong and safe from unsafe.

Emotions:

At this time, your baby will be very open and loving with the people he knows, like mom, dad, and grandparents. But he will become anxious and clinging in front of unfamiliar people, places or objects too. At this age, your baby will be afraid of darkness, thunder, and loud appliances such as vacuum cleaners, etc.

These fears will go slowly but meanwhile, eliminate such fears as much as possible. At times when you can’t shield him from something that frightens him, like a sudden thunder, comfort him, but stay calm so he understands that you are not afraid.

You have to reassure him every time it occurs and gradually his fear will go away and he will feel safe. Your baby can understand one-step commands, like bye, wave, clap hands, etc. along with their meaning and use them appropriately too.

He will be able to point out objects too. As babies grow older, they will begin to develop deeper relationships, learn to respond and adapt to you and the people around them. So, if your baby isn’t interested in playing with other babies right now, don’t worry. Give him time.

As a parent, you can support him to feel secure and safe in his little world with loads of love and cuddles while allowing him to enjoy his independence.
