Be Alert For Any Allergies While Introducing New Foods

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

  • While introducing new foods to your child, you should be aware of the eight foods that causes 90% of food allergies. They are milk, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts, treenuts (walnuts or almonds), seafood and fish. Also, consult your child's paediatrician about food allergens.

  • Start introducing new foods gradually. Introduce one  new food along with foods that are safe and wait for 3 to 4 days before starting a new food item.

  • You can also get an allergy test done to find out the sensitivity of your child to these foods. Your child's pediatrician can guide you more about the test.

  • Few allergies go away with time like milk and egg allergies while rest can continue.

  • If your child develops rashes, swelling, vomiting, coughs or wheezes, has difficulty breathing, immediately consult the doctor.  It could be a severe allergic reaction to a new food.
