Hair Care Tips For Your Little One

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your baby may be born with a head full of thick hair or just a few orderless strands, but within the first six months, these hair fall off. It is normal for babies to lose their innate hair and grow new hair often with different texture, colour and thickness. He might have a few bald patches as well. It is most probably because your baby’s head rests lying on that spot and due to the friction, hair loss is maximum at that point. As he grows older, new hair begins to grow. Baby hair is softer than adult hair and hence requires different levels of care.

Some essential hair care tips for your little baby:

    1. Oil your baby’s hair regularly. Regular oiling improves the blood circulation and provides the adequate amount of moisture needed for the scalp. Baby oil, almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil, any of these oils can be used for massaging.

    2. Use baby shampoo and homemade conditioner for your little one’s hair. Washing your baby’s hair twice or thrice a week should be enough. Washing too often would dry out his scalp. Use milk to clean his hair. If the scalp is too dry, use aloe vera juice to take care.

    3. Detangle your infant’s curls before combing. Do not brush the hair when wet. Always use a soft bristled hair brush.

    4. Do not use heat on baby’s hair. Air drying is the best way to dry hair. It helps minimizing tangles too.

    5. Do not use any styling clip or band at this age.

    6. Take care of your baby’s hair right from the beginning. Provide proper nutrition for best hair growth.
