Keep Naming Things Around You Clearly When Your Baby Is With You

Your child at this stage is graduating everyday when it comes to his language and speech skills. Now is not the time for baby talk any more. Keep pointing to things you use and say their names to your child. Read to them and name the things you see in the book. They will retain more than you think. Enunciate your words clearly so that your child learns the correct pronunciation.

Also, this is the age when your child is learning to speak. The more you speak clear and with articulation, your baby will learn better. However, many times it has been seen that if a child is exposed to too much of cartoon and other television shows, he tends to pick that language more effortlessly than the one you speak at home. For eg. if your little one is hooked to Baby TV or Peppa Pig, and spends a jolly good time with it, it is most likely that he will start speaking in that language than what you have been intending to teach him. So, while you are moving away from baby talk to clear and enunciated talk, don’t forget to check on the time that your child is learning a new form of language from other sources. Even though there isn’t a harm in doing so, but this may hamper his language skills in the future.
