6 tips to raise a positive child in a negative world

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Raising a positive child in a negative world is essential as well as tricky. As parents, we have the responsibility to raise our children in the most protected and optimistic environment. The challenge comes when we have to teach our children about how to remain positive and be optimistic all day long, battling impostors of all sorts.

This can be easily done with the help of simple activities and strategies. You need to first explain to your kids about what optimism is and then practice activities and instances around it.

Useful tips to raise a positive child in a negative world:

All parents want their kids’ future years to be bright and successful. The groundwork for turning this wish into a living reality needs to begin from your child’s early years.

Follow these useful tips regularly and you can rest assured that you will be successful raising a positive child in a negative world:

    1. Be a good role model

Your children grow up by idolizing you as their role model. They will mimic your behavior and actions daily. So, be very careful of what you say and do in front of your kids. Be very cheerful and positive in front of them so that they can also turn out to be the same. This will help them deal with failures in life in a positive manner and they will be most likely to become avid achievers.

    2. Teach daily chores with patience

Let children feel responsible and assign them tasks that they can do independently. Tell them to keep the utensils in the sink, let them tie their shoelaces and also wear clothes on their own. If they fail in the first attempt, encourage them to do so the next time and do not shout or show any anger. Reward them at the end, for the efforts put by them into completing the assigned task.

    3. Never stress your child

Never expose kids to the worries of life like a financial crisis, home management, and so on. Let them play and live in their own beautiful world of dreams. Give them time to grow up and understand all these things with age. Also, if you are stressed out, try not to show them your anxiety and shelter them from all worries.

Grandma's Tip: Never show your tears in front of your child. You may not realize but seeing that side of you can affect the little one negatively. Parenting is never easy and quite often we have to hide a lot of our shortcomings and wear the mask of a strong individual in front of our kids. But if that's what's going to make them happy and strong, it is worth the shot, hai na?

    4. Point towards the light

If due to any reason, your child feels disappointed, try and convince them by showing the positive side of everything. Encourage the little one to do their best next time and appreciate the efforts they put into accomplishing the task assigned to them. This way they will feel cared and loved, and next time do the task with more enthusiasm.

    5. Listen to your child

When your child is facing any problem and is trying to tell you about it, do not indulge in your own things. Try to show that you are listening. Choose a calm place where you can sit with your child and listen to the little one attentively. Try to understand their feelings and then give them a positive solution to the problem.

    6. Stay away from negative feelings if you want to raise a positive child

Never show or keep negative feelings for anyone in your heart and never express them in front of your child. Negative thoughts have an adverse effect on you and your child as well. In order to keep the little one happy and optimistic, keep them and yourself away from even a small trace of negativity.

Negativity breeds negativity and positivity is contagious. So, in all possibilities, opt for the second one. It is the best for you and your family.
