Be a Role Model and Teach Your Child to Be Helpful

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Teaching your child good habits from the beginning will make it easier to help him grow with requisite skills and character. Whether it is helping out a fellow classmate, assisting you or grandparents, or helping neighbours, your child should be keen to do so. There are numerous ways you can teach your child to help others and the best way is to practice the same.

    1. Practice what you preach. Be a role model for your child and allow him to observe you from close quarters. Your child pays attention to everything you say and do, and imitate your words and actions. Keep in mind how easily he can get influenced.

    2. Make donations with your child. By donating clothes, toys, or money, help your child understand how his helping nature brings happiness to others.

    3. Ask your spouse to help you in your daily chores and vice versa. Set an example of helping each other in front of your child. Now, ask your child to help you in your chores. This instills a habit of helping family in your child.

    4. Although modelling the behaviour you want to preach to your child is best, you need to communicate the importance of being helpful to your child. Sharing, caring and helping should be communicated to child at very early age.

    5. Share your stories, how you were and are helpful to others. Share such stories of other people from your community as well, your child can learn from examples of how people care for one another.
