Home Decor: Things to do with your kids this Christmas

Here are some easy yet appealing decoration ideas for this Christmas, which can be easily executed with your kiddo:

1. Salted Dough Santa Claus:

For kids, the other name of Christmas is Santa Claus and gifts. And you can make these tiny charming Santa along with your kids this year, all you need to do is, just take 1 cup all purpose flour add ½ cup salt, kneed it with Luke warm water, pat the dough firmly and make a thick round chapatti shape, now take a hand print on dough and cut the extra dough out with the help of knife, let it dry in sunlight for around 2–3 days or for better results you can bake it at 200F for 3 hours and flip in every 30 minutes . Finally add colors to it, for e.g. red color for the cap with white hair and beard and then three dots for eyes and nose. Similarly, you can make footprint snowman, stars and even Christmas tree as shown in pictures.

2. Paper plate Christmas Tree:

Christmas is incomplete without Christmas tree, so this year you can try this cute little tree, which can be easily prepared by your cutie pie. Just take a paper plate paints it fully with green color. Now you can divide it equally into three or four triangles. Now paste one triangle over other and keep it aside. Now take a brown paper cut it in a long rectangle shape like a tree bark. Paste bark to the tree, you can paste this tree to the wall, now your tree is ready to decorate and you can grace this tree with glittering paper stars.

3. No-sew socks Snowman:

This is a very easy and attractive home decor idea for this Christmas that your kid will love to make it. For making it you need, are white socks, mustard seeds, rubber band, ribbon and small black dot stickers. Now take a socks cut it till the ankle, now start filling mustard seed in it making a big round ball at bottom, pack it tightly with a rubber band now again follow the same procedure of filling mustards but this time a small round ball for snowman’s face, again tie it tightly with rubber band also you can use thick thread for tying it up. Now take the ribbon and tie it in between face and tummy of the snowman. Finally, paste stickers for eyes and nose. Also, you can decorate the tummy part with button and head part with a small woolen cap. Your snowman is ready to grace your home.

4. Paper Reindeers

It’s Christmas time and how you can miss reindeers at your home? You and your child will enjoy making these easy paper reindeers at home. All you need to do is cover a cardboard tube with patterned brown paper, then cut a triangle head and two large and two small oval ears out of plain brown paper. Glue the smaller ears inside the larger ones and fold in half, then paste it to the top of the triangle. Put stickers, for eyes. You can also glue googly eyes to stickers. Finally, add pom-pom as the nose. Now glue the triangle to the top center of the tube. Use straws and pipe cleaners to make antlers. Your Darling reindeers are ready to rock.

5. Woolen thread wreath:

A wreath is the most charming thing you can have as a Christmas decor at your home, this is so effortless craft idea that your child can do with your little help. All you need for making this lovely wreath is a piece of broad pipe, woolen thread (I took red and white and green threads, you can choose colors of your choice) and of course we can’t forget glue gun. Now take the pipe and bend it in a wreath shape and glue both the ends of the pipe to make it as a wreath. First, take a white thread and wrap it around the wreath and glue it, now similarly wrap the red thread and glue it as well, both red and white thread should be wrapped equally, finally wrap the green one, it should be ¼ in comparison to red and white. Repeat this alternate color thread wrapping until you cover the whole wreath. Decorate this amazing wreath with socks snowman, flower bouquet, and few stars.

6. Popsicle sticks star:

We all decorate our houses with fascinating Christmas stars, most of the kids love stars and it will delight them even more if they can make one by themselves. This is my daughter’s favorite stuff, which she makes for every Christmas, without my help. So we just need Popsicle sticks of your favorite color and glue. Now take one stick glue one edge and paste the other stick over it, in a manner that both the sticks should form a triangle. Now glue the edge of the same stick and paste the next stick so that it should cross the other stick that is making the triangle with more distance on the top and less in the bottom (as shown in picture). Now glue this 3rd stick's other edge and place the 4th one over it so that it should form a triangle and cross the triangle with was formed earlier, finally join 1st and 4th stick edge with 5th one to make a perfect star.

7. Christmas Tree Ornaments

Home decoration is totally incomplete with without decorating Christmas tree, and kids love to decorate Christmas tree, and here are some easy ornaments for decoration.

A. Farfalle pasta (butterfly pasta) ornament- Take few farfalle pasta and glue it all over with the help of a brush, then sprinkle sparkle dusting powder over the glued pasta, make few of it and attach it with golden thread.

B. Paper cup hanging- Poke a small hole in the center bottom of the cup. Now take a ribbon and cut it to a length that is about four times the height of the cup, then put the bell into the ribbon and double it. Push the ends of the ribbon through the hole in the cup and make a knot at the top of the cup making sure that the bell will hang just below the opening of the cup, now tie the open end of ribbon at the top to hang. Finally spread glue on the outside of the cup and wrap it with tinsel garland.

C. Socks- Take plain red socks and a green glittering ribbon, glue this ribbon over the edge of the socks, now cut a paper in the shape of Christmas tree or you can draw Santa Claus and paste it over the socks. Stunning socks are ready to be a part of decoration at you home.

D. Cloth pins snowman- Take few cloth pins and red woolen threads, tie these threads over the cloth pins, so that is should look like a muffler of the snowman, finally make eyes with a black marker and a triangle nose orange marker. These handsome snowmen are ready to hang on the Christmas tree.
