    1. Give your child time to speak. Encouraging your child to speak will open up the opportunity for him to develop conversation leading to developing language skills. Ask your child to summarize his day. Help him in elaborating the details, thus provide him the new words and sentences to express himself.

    2. Read books to him and ask him to read them for you as well. Ask your child to pay attention while you are reading. After you read out the story, ask him certain questions related to the same. Like, if you have explained the dressing of any character in the story, ask him the colour of the character’s t-shirt. Praise your child for his good listening skills if he answers correctly. You can build conversation around the story as well and ask your child to give it a new end.

    3. Use lot of questions to start conversation with your child. Like ask him, what are you making, or how are you making it. Ask open ended questions, instead of questions with yes or no answers.

    4. Give him a chance to use technology to build up his language skills. Allow him to use communication devices to talk. Give him unused or a non-working phone to pretend as if he is talking to his friend or others over phone.
